Who: John Edwards

What: His new book, 'Home: The Blueprints of Our Lives,'" collects nearly 60 touching stories from personalities as diverse as General Tommy Franks, filmmaker Steven Spielberg, Senator John Glenn and celebrity chef Mario Battali. They share their personal tales of how where they came from defined who they became.

Background: Former senator Edwards was the Democratic candidate for vice president, running with John Kerry in 2004. He has since formed the One America Committee and was appointed director of the Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.


Who: Alan King

What: Lieutenant Colonel King's new book, 'Twice Armed: An American Soldier's Battle for Hearts and Minds in Iraq,' describes how he orchestrated the capture or surrender of nearly a dozen of the most wanted villains from Saddam Hussein's regime. The book takes it title from Plato's ancient words of wisdom: "We are twice armed if we fight with faith."

Background: King is the former head of the Coalition Provisional Authority's Tribal Affairs and Sunni outreach programs in Iraq. He is one of the war's most decorated officers.
